u/buildzoid has a really great video about it on his Actually Hardcore Overclocking channel Using ThrottleStop In general you can see a +30% (AMD's SMT is more efficient than this) boost per core by enabling it however, this could reduce clocks by more than 30% (Laptop's especially due to thermal constraints) negating this benefit. The reason my first piece of advice is to disable HyperThreading is because a HyperThreaded core is =/= to a real core. As described in the previous section game engines are limited in the amount of CPU threads they can use so you are not losing anything. Process Lasso allows you to control how many cores/threads a program is able to use in Windows.īy disabling cores/threads you can see improvements in clockspeeds and thermals. Even most recent games seem to top out at 8 threads with only small marginal improvements on machines with more than this. Most game engines aren't able to take advantage of all the threads of a CPU.
